The Friends work to support and enhance the resources of the library. Funds from sales and membership dues are used to purchase items for the library such as specialty equipment. They also sponsor programs and projects for adults, children and youths.

The Friends of the Port Jefferson Free Library is a volunteer organization. Our focus is to maintain an association of people interested in books and the Library. The funds collected from our community's generous donations allow us to enhance the Library's programs, purchase special items and sponsor additional educational and cultural events.

The Friends operate a USED BOOK SHOP at 150 East Main Street In Port Jefferson. Members of the Friends serve as volunteers in the book shop.
